Sell Cashless, On-Site Products with Mobile Pay Pass

Use Mobile Pay Pass to let registrants pay for concessions, merchandise, and other on-site purchases with the card they already have on file

Written by Maddy

Mobile Pay Pass is a feature that lets you sell products on-site without asking registrants to pull out a card. Registrants opt in to use the card they already saved during checkout, then pay for on-site purchases by scanning the QR code on their registration and entering a PIN.

This makes lines move faster and keeps your staff from handling payment devices for every sale. In this article, we’ll cover how to turn on Mobile Pay Pass, add your products, create an app key, guide registrants through the purchasing experience, use the Mobile Pay Pass app, and view your reports.

Mobile Pay Pass Pricing

Mobile Pay Pass costs $0.25 per transaction, plus standard credit card processing fees.

Note: Mobile Pay Pass is only available for customers processing in USD and CAD.

Mobile Pay Pass is only available for iOS devices. Download the Mobile Pay Pass App here.

Add Your Products

Once Mobile Pay Pass is turned on, you'll add every product you want available for sale on-site. Each product has its own name, price, and optional fee and tax settings.

  • From the Mobile Pay Pass App settings, click Add Product

    • Enter a Name for the product

    • Enter a Price for the product

    • Add a Fee if desired

    • Add a Sales Tax if desired

    • Toggle on Visibility so the product appears in the Mobile Pay Pass app

    • Click Save

  • Repeat these steps for each product you want to sell on this page

Note: We recommend leaving Visibility toggled on for every product you plan to sell. If visibility is turned off, the product will not show up in the Mobile Pay Pass app.

Create an App Key That Accepts Mobile Pay Pass

The Mobile Pay Pass app uses the same app key as the RedPodium Check-In app. This section covers how to create a new key or update an existing one so it works with Mobile Pay Pass.

  • From the Pages screen, click the pencil icon on the page where you want to enable Mobile Pay Pass

  • Hover your mouse over the Onsite tab in the top menu bar

  • Select Check-In App from the dropdown

  • Create a new app key, or select an existing app key to edit

  • Toggle on Use App Key for Mobile Pay Pass App

  • Click Save

  • Click Save Now in the upper-right corner of your page to save your changes. Click Publish to publish these changes to your live page

Registrant Opt In Experience

Registrants opt in to Mobile Pay Pass on their own after they purchase registrations.

  • After purchasing registrations, registrants see the option to opt into Mobile Pay Pass on both the confirmation page and the confirmation email

  • To opt in, registrants select Activate Mobile Pay Pass

  • They can create a four digit PIN they'll use to verify purchases

  • Select Activate

  • After opting in, the billing email will receive a confirmation email confirming that their Mobile Pay Pass is active and their 4 digit pin has been created. Registrants use that pin along with the QR code on their registrations to make purchases on-site

Pro Tip: If a registrant forgets their PIN, they can resend it from their confirmation email at any time. When they resend their pin, RedPodium sends a new email containing their Mobile Pay Pass PIN.

View Your Reporting

You can view your Mobile Pay Pass sales in the app itself and in several reports inside your account. This section covers each option so you can choose the one that matches what you're trying to see.

Pro Tip: We recommend using different reports depending on your needs:

  • In App Reporting: Use the reporting within the Mobile Pay Pass app when you want to review activity from a single Mobile Pay Pass session. This report provides a quick overview of the transactions processed and items sold during that session

  • Registrant Data Report: Use a Registrant Data Export when you need detailed information about individual Mobile Pay Pass purchases, including who purchased items on-site and which items they purchased

  • On-Site Sessions Report: Use the On-Site Sessions Report when you want to review revenue from your Mobile Pay Pass sessions

In App Reports

The best way to review the transactions processed and items sold during a Mobile Pay Pass session is through the app. Before ending the session, review the session summary and take a screenshot if you want to save it for your records.

  • Select the reports button in the Mobile Pay Pass app

    • View your total revenue

    • View your total number of purchases

    • View the quantity sold and total revenue for each product

View an Registrant Data Report

The Registrant Data Report works best when you need information about individual Mobile Pay Pass purchases. When pulling this report, include the Mobile Pay Pass Items and Mobile Pay Pass Items Total ($ Amount) fields.
